Doug Wrenn '99-00



Attended O'Dea High School in Seattle, WA. Averaged 22.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in his senior year. Washington State Player of the Year for '97-98. First team Parade All-American in '98. Attended Milford Academy in Milford, CT to work on his grades. He was arrested for shoplifting boots from Bob's Stores in Hamden in the fall of 1998. Charges later were nolled. He transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas in New Britain for the remainder of the school year, but didn't play basketball there.

Got into trouble before the start of his freshman year at UConn when he was issued a citation for a run-in with a police officer in front of Cody's Diner in New Haven in October '99. Suspended (along with Souleymane Wane) during the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic against Duke (UConn's second game) for taking a taxi back to the team hotel rather than the team bus, without permission. Involved in a Farmington police investigation (along with Tony Robertson) for allegedly receiving boots without paying at the Timberland store in the Westfarms Mall in late January. Suspended for 10 games (Robertson was suspended for one).

Dismissed from the UConn basketball team following his arrest at 12:42 AM early in the morning of April 29th during UConn's Spring Weekend festivites for breach of peace at McMahon Hall dormitory on the UConn campus. According to the UConn police report, Wrenn became enraged and began shoving and swearing at members of the dormitory residential life staff who were monitoring the building's entrances.
