UConn Huskies Basketball

Nantambu 'Bo' Willingham '91-95

Selected in the territorial phase of the 1995 U.S. Basketball League draft by the Connecticut Skyhawks and played for them in '95 and '96 and for the Raleigh Cougars in '98.

Played for Regensdorf (Switzerland) in '95-96. Playd for Guang Dong (China) from '96-98. Played in Puerto Rico with Villalba in '98, averaging 20.1 ppg and 15.7 rpg. He was 8th in the league in scoring and 5th in rebounding. Missed the All-Star team by one vote.

Started the '98-99 season in Argentina for Regatas San Nicolas but was released shortly into the season.

Signed with the Grand Rapid Hoops of the CBA on Jan. 20, 1999. Released by the Hoops on Jan. 30th after they signed Jason Williams ('Nova '97) who had been released by the Atlanta Hawks.

Played in Venezuela for Trotamundos for a month and then returned to the US to re-signed with the Hoops (according to Tom Yantz in the Hartford Courant) but never appeared on their roster.

Drafted in the 11th round (81st overall) in the inaugural draft of the International Basketball League by the Baltimore Bayrunners.

Signed by Guaynabo in Puerto Rico for the '99 season but released in June. Signed with Mayaguez Indians in Puerto Rico in June. Participated in the Shoot Straight Pro-Am Summer League in New London, CT in August '99. Invited to CT Pride preseason camp but was cut before season started. Started the '99-00 season in the Dominican Republic playing for Guerreros de San Francisco but then signed with Al Sadaka in the Lebanese league.

Invited to the LA Lakers training camp in September 2000. After he was cut he worked out with the Chicago Skyliners of the new ABA 2000 league. He thought he had made the team but, due to some confusion about the league rules, the team's management was mistaken about how many players they could carry on their active roster. When Nantumbu realized he wouldn't be on the team's roster for the start of the season he went home to Atlanta, GA on Dec. 27, 2000. Signed with the Rockford Lightning (CBA) on Dec. 29, 2000 and played very well for them.

Left the Rockford Lightning in Feb. 2001 when the CBA folded. Quickly signed with the Tampa Bay ThunderDawgs (ABA) but only played 3 games before leaving to play in France (where Predrag Materic is a teammate).

Signed with the Southern California Surf of the ABA2000 for the 2001-02 season.
