
Ricky Savalas Moore. Born April 10, 1976.
Led Westside HS in Augusta, Georgia to a 33-1 overall record in 1994-95 and the school's first-ever Class AAA state title. Averaged 21.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 3.4 steals per game. Named runner-up in voting for Mr. Georgia Basketball after senior season. First Team All-State. National Top 40 scholastic recruit. Named runner-up in voting for Mr. Georgia Basketball after senior season. First Team All-State.
Scored then career-high 14 points, including netting 10 straight points in second half for his team in UConn's championship game comeback win over Georgetown in BIG EAST title game as a freshman. Re-injured right shoulder in a fall during NCAA First Round game vs. Colgate and missed UConn's remaining two NCAA contests.
Led UConn with 152 assists (5.4/game) ann 48 steals his sophmore year. Sat out five games due to NCAA suspension for accepting plane tickets from an agent. Played with People-to-People All-Stars which toured during the summer of 1997.
Led the Big East with a 2.5-to-1.0 assists-to-turnovers ratio (128 assists, 52 turnovers) his junior year. Named UConn's Top Defensive Player in '97-98 and '98-99. Named the 1998-99 College Basketball Defensive Player of the Year by Basketball News Magazine. Named to the 1999 NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team as well as the 1999 NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team. Was Connecticut's co-captain for three consecutive seasons. Played in a school record 134 games and was a starter in 100 of those games in final three seasons. UConn won a school record 114 games in those four seasons. Finished career ranked fifth on the UConn assist list with 510 (3.8 apg) and sixth in steals with 170 (1.27 spg).
He was the #1 pick (3rd overall) by the New Hampshire Thunder Loons in the first round of the 1999 USBL Draft. Also the #2 pick (18th overall) of the Connecticut Pride in the 1999 CBA Draft.
Invited to the Detroit Piston's pre-season camp and appeared in their first preseason game. Cut by the Pistons on 10/14/99.
Played for Wurzburg in Germany for the 2000-01 season. Named October 2000 Player of the Month. Averaged 17ppg for the season.
Signed with the Charlotte Hornets on Oct. 2, 2001. Released on Oct. 23, 2001.
Drafted in the third round (3rd team pick, 17th overall) of the NBDL 2001 Supplemental Draft on Nov. 3, 2001 by the Roanoke Dazzle. Released by the Dazzle on Jan. 23, 2002.
