August 31st Recap (Exhibition Game)Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead defeated Bella Fiore/Notte 139-128 in the final game of the Shoot Straight Pro-Am League season. Nantambu Willingham (UC '95) scored 30 points, Abe Keita scored 27 points, Zach Smith scored 25 points, Tyson Wheeler scored 21 points and Herb Boyd scored 20 points for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Ricky Lopes scored 37 points, and Pete Gittens and Dwayne Simpson both scored 29 points for Bella Fiore/Notte.
August 29th Recap (Second Round of Play-offs)Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead defeated Bella Fiore/Notte 147-129 to clinch the Shoot Straight Pro-Am League Championship 2-0. Donny Marshall (UC '95) scored 57 points (34 points by half-time, 11 3-pointers overall), and Matt Turner scored 32 points, Abe Keita scored 23, Shawn Antrum scored 16, and Pete Gittens scored 15 for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Vin Baker scored 51 points, Troy Bradford scored 24 points, Ricky Lopes scored 20 points, and Conn College's Mizan Ayers scored 12 points for Bella Fiore/Notte.A final game will be played on Tuesday, August 31st at 7:00 PM between Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead andBella Fiore/Notte but, with the championship already decided, it will be played as an exhibition game. Ray Allen (UC '96) is expected to play.
August 26th Recap (Second Round of Play-offs)In game #1 of this best-of-three championship series, Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead defeated Bella Fiore/Notte 134-122. Ray Allen (UC '96) scored 37 points, Donny Marshall (UC '95) scored 34 points, Oliver Macklin (UC '93) scored 22, and Nantambu Willingham (UC '95) scored 17 for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Troy Bradford scored 42 points, Vin Baker scored 32 points, and Kirk King (UC '97) scored 15 points for Bella Fiore/Notte.Second round of the play-offs continue on Sunday, August 29th at 7:00 PM with Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead trying to clinch the championship with a second victory over Bella Fiore/Notte. Ray Allen (UC '96) is not expected to make Thursday night's game because of his Celebrity Weekend charity event this weekend.
August 24th Recap (First Round of Play-offs)
In the second game, Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead defeated Flowers USA 129-117. Ray Allen (UC '96) scored 34 points and Donny Marshall (UC '95) scored 29 points for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Vin Baker scored 39 points, and Kirk King (UC '97) scored 24 points for Flowers USA. Second round of the play-offs begin this Thursday, August 26th at 7:00 PM with Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead playing Flowers USA play in the championship series.
August 22th RecapIn the first game, Bella Fiore/Notte defeated Paul's TV 122-116 last night to finish the regular season in first-place. Troy Bradford scored 41 points and William Antrum scored 27 points for Bella Fiore/Notte. Bobby Moore scored 41 points and Shamon Antrum scored 23 points for Paul's TV.In the second game, Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead defeated Flowers USA 114-106. Ray Allen (UC '96) scored 39 points and Matt Turner scored 25 for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Donny Marshall (UC '95) scored 26 points, Kevin Ollie (UC '95) scored 22 points, and Kirk King (UC '97) scored 20 points for Flowers USA. Play-offs begin this Tuesday, August 24th. The first round will be single-elimination. In the first game at 6:30pm Bella Fiore/Notte will play Paul's TV. In the second game at 8:00pm Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead playes Flowers USA.
August 19th Recap
In the second game, Paul's TV defeated Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead 112-109. Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead jumped out to an early 23-3 lead, but Paul's TV climbed back into the game in the first half, closing to within 12 points at one point, but finished the half down 18 points after a late 3 by Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Khalid El-Amin (UC '01) led Paul's TV with 26 points, Scott Burrell (UC '93) and Kevin Ollie (UC '95) scored 18 points each, and Kirk King (UC '97) scored 14 points. Ray Allen (UC '96) led Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead with 43 points, including nine 3-pointers, and Tyson Wheeler and Donny Marshall (UC '95) each scored 18 points. Also in attendance, but not playing, were Edmund Saunders (UC '01) and Vin Baker. Next games will be this Sunday, August 22th, the last day of the regular season games. In the first game at 6:30pm Paul's TV will play Bella Fiore/Notte. In the second game at 8:00pm Flowers USA plays Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Vin Baker is expected to play in this game.
August 17th RecapIn the first game, Flowers USA defeated Paul's TV 77-72. Bryon Syphrett led Flowers USA with 33 points.In the second game, Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead defeated Bella Fiore/Notte 117-115 when Travis Knight (UC '96) grabbed a missed 3-point shot by Donny Marshall (UC '95) and put it back in at the buzzer. On the previous possesion, Knight grabbed a rebound off of a missed shot by Duane Simpson with the scored tied with 9 seconds left on the clock and quickly called a timeout to set up the game-winning shot. Marshall was the leading scorer for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead with 35 points, Tyson Wheeler scored 24, and Knight scored 17. Troy Bradford led Bella Fiore/Notte with 31 points, Ray Allen (UC '96) scored 23, and Scott Burrell (UC '93) and Oliver Macklin (UC '93) both scored 20 points. Next games will be this Thursday, August 19th. In the first game at 6:30pm Flowers USA will play Bella Fiore/Notte. In the second game Paul's TV plays Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead at 8:00pm.
August 15th RecapIn the first game, Bella Fiore/Notte defeated Paul's TV 117-115 on Troy Bradford's last-second shot last night. Bradford had 29 points and Jonathan Tross had 22 for Bella Fiore/Notte. Bobby Moore had 29 points and Chris Davis had 21 points for Paul's TV.In the second game, Flowers USA defeated Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead 138-130. Brendan Floyd scored 34 points, including 8 3-pointers, Ryan House had 28 points, and Tobe Carberry and Steve Hyppolite both scored 25 points for Flowers USA. Terrell Myers scored 36 points, Matt Turner scored 34 points, and Pete Gittens scored 28 points for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Next games will be this Tuesday, August 17th. In the first game at 6:30pm Flowers USA will play Paul's TV . In the second game the undefeated Bella Fiore/Notte plays Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead at 8:00pm.
August 10th RecapIn the first game, Abe Keita, who will play for St. John's when he becomes eligible in 2000, scored 33 points and blocked 7 shots for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead as they beat Paul's TV 126-121 in overtime last night. Matt Turner scored 28 points and Tyson Wheeler had 23 points for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Tavoris Bell, of URI, scored 40 points for Paul's TV.In the second game, Bella Fiore/Notte beat Flowers USA 96-90. Terrell Myers scored 28 points, including five 3-pointers, for Bella Fiore/Notte and Alex Howard scored 26 points for Flowers USA. Next games will be this Sunday, August 15th. In the first game at 6:00pm Paul's TV will play the undefeated Bella Fiore/Notte. Flowers USA tries for their first win in the second game at 8:00pm against Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead.
August 8th RecapThe Shoot Straight Pro-Am League began play last night at with four teams - Pauls' TV Sales & Service LLC, Flowers USA, Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead, and Bella Fiore/Notte.None of the NBA players or UConn alumni who are expected to play in the league made it to the opening night's games but some of them should be available by next Sunday's games. Team rosters were still being put together so it hard to tell who was out on the court. Turns out I was sitting in front of Matt Turner's mother and she was able to identify some of the players for me. In the first game, Paul's TV defeated Flowers USA, 89-79. Terrell Brown led Paul's TV with 26 points, and Bobby Moore scored 23. Flowers USA was led by Alex Howard's 22 points. It took a while for the game to develop a flow, but after about 5 minutes this was a very entertaining game. In the second game, Bella Fiore/Notte topped Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead, 102-101. Terrell Meyer scored 37 points, including four 3-pointers, for Bella Fiore/Notte. Matt Turner scored 33 points and Tyson Wheeler had 29 points in a losing effort for Traystman, Coric, Keramidas & Moreshead. Next games will be played Tuesday night, August 10th at 6:30 and 8 p.m. at Conn. College.
