A two-time All-State player in high school. Connecticut's Gatorade Player of the Year after his senior year '89-90 at Farmington High School.
Saw limited playing time his freshman year at UConn on a team Transferred to the University of Hartford after his freshman year at UConn. Blew out a knee practicing for the Nutmeg State Games at the UConn Field House in the summer of 1991 before he actually started school at UH so he rehabilitated it while he sat out the year. Had 12 points, five rebounds and six turnovers in 30 mintues against UConn on Dec. 28, 1992. Vin Baker was his roommated at UH in '92-93. Shawn left UH just before Christmas of '93.
Worked as a bouncer for a while. Played on Johnny Kidd's Nutmeg State Games team summer of '95. Kidd was an assistant coach at Western Connecticut State University and head coach Bob Campbell was the UConn men's basketball team manager in '72-73. Shawn enrolled there for '95-96 but chose not to play basketball that season in an attempt to get his academics back on course. He played on the WCSU team in '96-97 but his college eligibility ran out Jan. 25th, 1997.
Wanted to try to play in Europe after graduation but I don't know if he ever did. I believe he played for the Springfield SLAMM of the EBA (now part of the UBA) in '97-98. Current whereabouts unknown.
